Card Room

This is the original card room for the Bird Cage, where many fortunes were lost and a few made.
It had its own bar to help the card players when they got dry from all that card playing.
Some of these card games went on for weeks.
These are the original lights that have been converted to electricity.
The cash register is still in use and they still collect the money.

Movie of Tombstone

In the movie of Tombstone, the Bird Cage was a place they went to see the live theater.
The audience could set in the box seats on the second floor for private party.
In fact the second floor was where the GIRLS, entertained their men FRIENDS, while setting in the box seats, before retiring to the rooms.
The girls rooms were on the second floor and very nice for the era.
The girls had rules to go by, so everyone got their share of the profit they made.
Some customers drank coffee and that funny looking machine is the coffee grinder.

Bar Fights and Shootings

This famous bar in the Bird Cage was ordered from back east and arrived, months later, all in tact.
The only damage that occurred to the bar is a bullet hole that still remains today. One of several around the bar.
With bar fights and gun battles every night I was amazed that the mirror survived.
Advertisements were even prevalent in those days. But how many people could read?

Texas Kate Wild West Show

My only regret in Tombstone, was not being able to see this show. She was closed the day we were there.
It is a family-styled show of comedy and western skills using all rescued animals she has trained her self.
