ANIMALS THAT COME LOOKING FOR YOU
Custer State Park
Located just south of Mt. Rushmore on the southeast foothills of the Black Hills, in South Dakota.
A 73,000 acre park one of the largest in the USA. Winding hairpin curves and narrow tunnels lead to wide open prairies with wildlife of all kinds.
A herd of 1400 buffalo, mountain goats, antelope, bighorn sheep, elk, prairie dogs, coyotes all make their homes there.
One animal you will not have to go looking for, it will find you. They are the wild donkey. They are not so wild anymore they come looking for a handout. The kids will find this a real treat.
A 18-mile loop road is the best way to see all of the animals.
We have gone there in the summer and spring. Spring time is the best time to go. You have a real chance to see all of the babies.
We have gotten some priceless pictures of them.
Other places of interest while you are in the Mt. Rushmore area.
The Black Hills Central Railroad. and exciting experience of traveling in ventage cars and follow an original route use by prospectors, miners, and early settlers. Departs from Hill City and Keystone, S.D.
The Museum of Wood carving is like none other you have ever seen. It is my favorite.
Thousands of life-like wood carvings all brought to life by one of Disneyland's original animators.
Dr. Niblack spent over 70,000 hours creating a world of wonder and magic. They are cute, different, funny, and all unbelievable.
You will not want to miss this one. Great for all of the family no matter what the age.
