Life is accelerated in Spearfish during the summer months.

There are festivals, fairs, and car rallies.

The Black Hills Passion Play, an outdoor drama that recounts the last week in Christ's life, has made Spearfish it's home for the summer since 1938.

More than 10 million people have watched the drama unfold.

The Passion Play is performed in an out door, state-of-the-art amphitheater.

The stage alone is more than two blocks wide. The cast includes professional actors, nearly 200 extra's, plus camels, sheep, donkeys,horses and doves.

The drama reveals the political turbulence of biblical times.

One of the longest running theater productions anywhere.

There is a backstage tour and museum also.

Open only on Tuesday. Thursday, and Sunday. 8 pm.
