Flathead Lake, Montana
Flathead Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi.
It is complete with 200 square miles of water and 185 miles of shoreline.
It is a deep glacier lake of 300 feet.
As you drive around the lake on roads that hug the shoreline, US Hwy. 93 and Rt. 35, it is hard to believe it is not man made.
This size of a lake is usually made by back up water from a dam.
But not this lake.
