Saguaro is the largest cactus in the USA growing only in Southern Arizona and Northwest Mexico.
This is the only area in the world that Saguaro cactus will live and have done for over 1200 years. With their very limited growing area where the climate is hot, dry and below 3500 feet elevation, they do very well in this region.
Growing very slowly, just 5 inches in 5 years, the Saguaro cactus commonly grows to heights of 35 to 75 feet and live to be over 200 years old. They weigh around 5 tons each.
In 35 to 40 years of age the Saguaro gets the first flower in May or June a white bell shaped, with yellow center.
In 65 years of age the Saguaro start to get the first arm and in 85 years of age they mature and have branches.
The Saguaro has been around for 1200 years and is protected by the US Government.
