CEDAR BREAKS NATIONAL MONUMENT
A multicolored amphitheater carved into the western edge of the 10,400 foot plateau. An amphitheater of colorful spires and columns.
It plunges 2500 feet as it reveals various shades of red, purple, and orange eroded limestone.
When early settlers saw it they named it Cedar Breaks, "breaks" to describe the badlands and "cedar" for the green juniper trees.
The rim drive at Cedar City, Utah travel through the monument with four major viewpoints with panoramas of the breaks and the high country.
It is part of the Color Country of Southern Utah.
