A High Threshold for Pain

A 24 hour mountain bike race was held here, a weekend in October.

More than 4500 mountain bikers were on hand for the 24 hour event.

The rugged terrain, combined with changes in altitude and temperature, made  the 24 hour ride one of the most grueling events that mountain biking has to offer.

Some riders rode upwards of 240 miles and they rode all night.

This is one of the most prestigious events of the extreme sports.

Participants in the 24 hour ride must have a high threshold for pain and discomfort.
