Gold Mines

Vrginia City, Montana was founded in 1863 and is considered to be the most complete, original town of its kind in the US.
A more colorful pioneer mining camp never existed.
Virginia City represents a busy mining town the way they use to be.
Rich placer diggings were discovered in Alder Gulch in the spring of 1863 and the stampede of gold seekers was on.
Then came the rest, with their trading and amusement centers for free spending miners.
Virginia City houses the largest collection of Old West artifacts outside the Smithsonian.
