The coastal redwoods, Sequoia, are the tallest living thing in the world, growing to 350 feet and beyond.
One of the tallest trees known is on Redwood Creek in the Redwood National Park, measured at 367.8 feet.
Many years ago the redwoods extended over much of the Northern Hemisphere.
Too many changes have taken place since. Climate and cutting for wood.
The moist climate of the coastal Oregon and California were the only ones that survived.
The Save-the-Redwoods League the redwoods are now safe.
Dozens of tourist oriented attractions cater to visitors who arrive each year to see the redwoods.
1. Be sure to see The Chimney Tree. A redwood gutted by fire in 1914 and is still growing.
2. The Drive-Through- Tree in Myers Flat has a sign that reads, “The widest car can drive through this tree.”
3. The Immortal Tree, it has with stood lightening strikes, fire, flood and the loggers axe, and still it stands.
4. These are a few of the must see, of these beautiful giants.We went to see the Chandlier Tree also.
